I'm looking for a A500/ 42rh transmission for my current project, that is a mild 318. But future plans "could" have the 318 replaced by a stock 5.7 Hemi. Here's my question...will the A500/42rh be able to live behind a stock 5.7 Hemi ? No racing...just driver/cruiser.
I'm sure that a 518/46rh would be the better choice for the Hemi...but the Hemi may never even happen.

Dynamic Converters rebuilt the A500 that I will be using behind a 340 in my 47 Dodge project. They did all the 904 performance upgrades since the A500 is basically a 904 with the OD. They said it would have no problems behind a pretty stout 340 so I imagine it would be OK behind a stock 5.7.

If interested I have another A500 that I bought with the one I had rebuilt that i’d Consider selling. PM me if interested.

I have been running a basically stock 42rh with a stage 2 kit in it for a couple of years behind a mildly built 5.9 Magnum without any problems if that helps you any.
I don't baby it either and even twisted my driveshaft off last week.
New shaft and the trans is fine.
You have to keep in mind that those transmissions were in trucks that were way heavier than our cars are and they had a 6k towing capacity on top of that.

I wish my 2wd. Dakota would die so I could have a transmission. LOL
