Ok I have a 1964 barracuda it has a 4 speed in it older style one it was just rebuilt and it has started to grind into second gear when it's cold after I drive it for a bit it seams fine any help would be greatly appreciated

Mine does that to. I have just grown used to it but Mines pretty minor. Just 2nd gear I think it's just a rod adjustment for mine but it's only 2nd gear when it's cold

Napa doesn't process oil. It's probably Valvoline

I have used 50 wt. Motor oil with no problem for 30 years , its a better all year round lube , you need to find non/ detergent oil like for motorcycles

Most everything I have read says to use a GL4 oil in the A833, and if Brewers recommends it, thats good enough for me. I personally use Redline MT-90 in mine and it shifts fantastic.
Recommendation for ATF is right in the service manual. I've run ATF in Vixen's three speed ever since I got her. Shifts like butter.

That is true, and you are correct on that, and there is lots of discussion about atf vs gear oil on this site. I just like to think that a lot of things regarding lubricants have changed in the last 50-60 years, and there may be better alternatives out there now than there were in the 60's.

They didn't grind back then, regardless of what gear oil was used.....as long as nothing was WRONG. Sometimes, something new and shiny is simply that.

That said, run what makes you happy. Vixen doesn't grind not one lick.
