Can anyone tell me the exact location of the oiling hole in the rear extension bushing. My worn one was found to be with the hole on the top slot which to me did not look correct. There is a slot in the 5 o'clock position as viewed from the rear and I think that is where the hole should line up. Dodge service manual does not have a picture and I could not find one on the forum. Thanks.

Slide a new bushing on
installing end of Tool C-3997. Align oil hole in bushing
with oil slot in the housing, then press or drive
bushing into place

that is what the ATSG manual says.

Yes, it should line up with the slot.
That is how it gets it's lubricating oil, and the reason the slot is at 5 o clock is because when the internals are spinning the "wind" throws oil onto that slot and it runs down through the hole in the bushing lubing the slip yoke to bushing surfaces.

They survive usually if it's not lined up but it's a lot better if they are.
