its best to get the rear end installed at correct pinion angle and set it down on the tires to load suspension and measure center of rear universal cap to the center of trans yoke universal cap and deduct 1 inch seems to work best for my past experiences. Am going to be building my new drive shaft in a few days and this is the formula im using again lol hope it works same as the past 50 I have done over he years. Don't forget to have a reputable drive shaft specialist do the welding and balancing too!

all the measurements I am finding seem to be either 7 1/4 or 8 3/4

I am looking for the correct driveshaft length for a 72 dodge dart 2 door H/T with a slant six/833 and an 8 1/4

1975 Dart Swinger

If your looking for recommendations scroll through all of the members who posted their set ups. This isn't for Q&A just like the header says "Post your Driveshaft Length" so others can hopefully pick what works for them through others R&D.

I thought I set this as a Sticky but I see that it isn't. Can someone sticky this thread so it's easy for people to find?

My 440 conversion in a 111 wb with a 8 1/4 was 44 1/2 I believe.

I thought it was a sticky too and looked for it a while back but couldn't find it. You might have to PM a moderator to get it done.

68 Dart 2dr Post 904/8.75 52" u-joint center to center just touching the boot type tailshaft seal. With the non boot seal it can be 1" or so longer. I was hoping the 54" would fit but this is as close as it would go even with the boot cut off the seal.

I’m at 48.25”. Touching the back of the Brewers 833 seal, it’s 49.25. Driveshaft guy said to go to the rubber and subtract 1”. This puts me a little short of the factory 48.9”?? I’m not familiar with this type of rear seal. This is Leaves me about 1” of yoke showing per the driveshaft guy. Is this ok? Too much? Split the difference ? Thanks.

I started this thread as a reference accumulator. I was looking for people to list ONLY their factory stock driveshaft lengths so other people could (using the actual measurements ) figure out what length they need when doing a swap. Most of the driveshaft charts out there are incorrect, this is why I am trying to gather data for a 100% accurate list/chart. So far only a few here have given the information needed. Even if your setup numbers have already been listed by someone else, please list yours again for verification. Thanks.
