Bought a US Body Source fiberglass bolt on hood for my 72 Dart. I wanted to use the original chrome trim on the front of the hood, but the raised part that the trim strip bolts to underneath was not molded into the hood. Was wondering what other people are doing if they want to add the hood trim to a fiberglass hood and no way to bolt it on? Any suggestions?

Sounds like you get to have a go at working with fiberglass mat and resin.

Those are actually both good ideas. I actually have some of the 3m panel adhesive and gun. Never thought about using it on the fiberglass though. Of course that would be a one time deal doing it that way with no way to remove the trim again without destroying something.

Perhaps I could use it to bond a metal mounting strip to the underside of the hood for the trim to bolt to, and perhaps even use that in combination with the weatherstrip adhesive on the underside of the trim itself?

Has anyone ever used panel adhesive on fiberglass to know how it will hold? Worked great for my mini-tub project, but that of course was metal to metal.
