Dammit.... how am I supposed to be the big tough guy with tears rolling out of my eyes?
You are the man and I know your mother is very proud of the son she raised! There may be a little jealousy among her freinds and some pissed off sons but it is worth it to see that look on her face!

That was a great thing to do. Nice car too. Reminds me of my buddy's 64 when he first bought it.

The car (a 1964 Plymouth Valiant Convertible) purchased by my father in 1979, spent the majority of its life under a car cover in my parents garage. My father made plans throughout the years to restore the car but things always got in the way. With the loss of my father in 2010, I promised myself that I would eventually get this done.

Four years ago my uncles and I stole my mother's car from her garage. We placed a dummy car under the car cover. She was none the wiser. The past weekend I had the joy of throwing her a surprise party. I had relatives come in from out of town. It was epic. After the initial surprise I let mom settle in for a couple of hours and surprised her again with her car.

I am so happy this forum exists. The advice and parts made available to me from this community were invaluable.

Very lovely story. You get the Good Son award! My brothers restored the family Lincoln prior to my Dad's passing, and take my mom around in it for special occasions. I am very happy for your Mom! What a special Birthday surprize.

Mom's reaction to her surprise :) My aunt brought her out to the front porch. She has no idea that her car is about to come around the corner fully restored :)

Super cool!! Love it that you were able to do this all without her knowing - car looks nice too!

I've got a set of original red bucket seat lap belts (fronts only) available - I can send you pix if you private message me an email address
