Aftermarket Carb Question

Slant 6 Carburetor | eBay few in the $50-100 second hand

if it doesn't work take the old one apart and swap the "configuration" into the new one.

I have no idea about holley carbs... but we are talking the bolt in parts that meter the fuel and air, springs jets rods plates with holes in specific areas tubes weights ball bearings or whatever they put in those things.

good second hand carries risk but fits with not spending too much

When it comes to cheap chinese copies the same process can work provided the body is machined properly and its the correct body for your manifold, you basically swap everything mopar specified from your old car into a body that isn't warped and doesn't have a completely worn out base plate and half a mile gap around the throttle shaft. then you get something ok which may work....then again it may not.

other option is a single from carter, a carter BBS if it fits?? or a different inlet and a carter BBD. (Ball&Ball single or Ball&ball dual) both used on slants at some point.
change will mean you may have to cater for:-
choke
fuel pipe banjo or connection and routing
booster and vacuum advance connections
any pipes to do with emissions set up
new filter base?
different throttle cable ?
and you will need new exhaust/inlet gasket and a gasket for the exhaust/inlet heat box
and potentially some new hardware to clamp it all together.

One thing I would like to add is that you need to investigate why the carb body broke like that.

Are the mating surfaces level with each other?

Did something hit the carb previously?

Maybe the other members can chime in but looking at the bolt flange on the carb it looks highly unlikely for this to happen if both the carb and manifold surfaces were mating properly when the nut was torqued down.

I agree 100%. Find the cause, or history will repeat itself. My money is on something under the carburetor that "AIN'T" supposed to be there.

Or, y'know, you could remove the carburetor, very thoroughly clean the cracked part, bodge your Dodge* with a wodge of aluminum-filled epoxy putty, let it cure, carefully reinstall the carb with a new correct base gasket, and cross your fingers it holds for a few months.

*Yeah, I know, but Plymouth doesn't rhyme.

That would possibly be successful if he could resist the urge to over tighten. It doesn't take "much" on the carburetor fasteners to get a seal.

looks like remans are a few hundred bucks plus core charge
Check out eBay I've seen and bought fresh carbs for /6 a lot more reasonable than that. Try different key words,/6 centric, Holley centric, Carter, BBS,1 barrel, , and more to try

And I do see it says for Ford but Its a replacement for the Holley 1920 so Im sure it fits
It's kind of hot or miss with these. You could get one that is perfect or one that sucks. What's the return policy. You could try a 1bbl Carter. They do work on a slant six. Anyway good luck. Let us all know how it turns out.

If I were working on a/6, that needed a carburetor and was stuck having to stick with a 1bbl and didn't have one, l I'd try to adapt a Carter yf like some Ford inline 6s and jeep inline 6s used.
As I remember some industrial and import /6s used that carb...and many had the black dial choke on them so adapting the stock /6 manifold choke wouldn't be an issue.
