Air Cleaner tabs on wrong end?

Why are the tabs on the wrong end?

Air cleaner off 1969 440, Carb is a Holley Street Avenger. The slots are at the front of the carb and tabs at the back of the air cleaner assembly.

Slots on the carb on the choke side do not line up with tabs (bent up) on air cleaner at other end.

Hard to see on my i-phone, picture dark as well. I'll take a look when I get home on the regular computer. Is it causing a mis alignment and I'll fit?

Good to hear from you, Rob. It has been a long time!

There are tabs on the air cleaner that fit into slots on the carb to keep it from spinning. The tabs are on the wrong end of the air cleaner, I bent them upward to get it to fit.

I'm curious as to why the tabs/slots are on opposite ends.
