Hey guys,
I just bought a conversion bellhousing for my smallblock to attach a t5 transmission to (from a mustang)...I plan on using the mopar clutch linkage, fork, z bar, etc.....Now my question is this, and i have pics to show as well...in the pics you will notice that the clutch fork pivot is on the side where a Ford would be, not on the side where it should be for the mopar clutch linkage...I also got a bunch of brackets with my shield, but im not sure what they are for (maybe to use as an adapter to pivot the mopar clutch fork)...Anyways, what i need to know from you 4 speed specialists is from the pictures do you think that the mopar 4 speed clutch linkage stuff will work, or am I screwed? is there a way to make it work? I tried calling the company that makes it today (quicktime) and there tech guy wasnt there it was a replacement guy and he told me that the easiest thing to do would be to drill and tap the pivot to the correct side, but im not sure if i want to do that...any help would be great guys....here are the pics

Looks to me you have the bracket, bolt it up.

is the bracket that big one in the last picture? I cant see how it would work...would you care to explain? I have the whole mopar clutch assembly up away in storage, and im not exactly familiar with the way the clutch linkage works (neither is my dad since hes only done mopar automatic stuff before)...so me and him dont know what the brackets are for, if the bell will work with the mopar linkage, and so on and so forth...im just looking for some reassurance here that the 400 bucks i just spent will work...thanks guys

so that bracket that you circled mullinax will allow the mopar clutch fork to reach that ball pivot on the other side? i appreciate your help guys thanks

I guess it must be different set up than stock Mopar. Here is a picture of my Lakewood scattershield with the bracket still bolted up.

What is the ball pivot for? It is not needed for Mopar four speed.

The bolt holes for the bracket appear to be in the bellhousing. They are on the opposite side from the ball about in the normal mopar location. No you won't use the ford pivot ball if you use a mopar fork.

I would call quicktime and ask them what parts you need to run the t5. You may need to morph some ford parts to make it work. If you don't need the pivot ball, can it be removed?

hey guys thanks soo much for the clarification...i assumed that i needed to use that pivot ball even with the mopar clutch fork...so what you guys are saying is that the bracket you are talking about (and yes mullinax thanks i know where you mean it would bolt up because i had already thought that location and bracket maybe a possiblity) is actuates the mopar clutch assembly? it doesnt even need to go near that ball- the bracket is all? and crackedback the rest of the parts i already know about...it was just the inners of this bellhousing and how i would make the clutch linkage work that i was unsure about once it arrived...theres a whole 5 speed thread in the 4 speed section with some great help from gmachinedart and fstfish66

also forgot to mention this bellhousing is also to hook up tkos and 3550 trannies as well, so maybe for those swaps that ball pivot is needed

i was just wondering, will a 5 speed from a 1990's dakota work with a small block without using a bellhousing adapter

It should, but they are much larger then an A-833, so it'll be a no go in an A body, unless you do a lot of chopping.

hey guys thanks for all the replies and pics (mullinax)...Ive seen some pics over on bigblockdart.com which confirmed that i will be fine using the mopar clutch linkage with this bell and bracket that comes with it....thanks for me bein there for me guys- i needed the peace of mind that this part wasnt a waste (this is what happens when manufacturers dont have pics or descriptions of parts- kinda have to figure it out when you get it)

No problem ... let us know how goes when you get around to installing it.

hey pettyblu, i didnt stay mopar for 5th gear...i wanted a manual, but the amount im going to be driving this car, i wanted overdrive...if the car didnt show up, i would have probably just gone auto since it would have been easier, but the mustang showed up in the junkyard, so i yanked that borg warner t5 right out man...i think it will be worth it when its all said and done...and mullinax i wont be getting around to installing until probably spring/summer..reason i ordered know was because it was on clearance for a good deal and there was only 12 left and werent making more, so i jumped on it

thanks guys for all the help

Aren't most of the Ford Sh** hyd clutch. I know some of them use a hyd throwup bearing were the bearing and clutch slave are one piece. Nice set up till you get a leak. Sure that isn't what they want to use?
GEORGE!!

the mustangs use a cable for the clutch pedal which is actuated by a pulling instead of pushing....and yes pettyblu one of my mustang buddy's hasnt stopped ripping on me about it...i keep telling him its made by borg warner and was in camaro's, s10's, astros etc. too but he just doesnt let up lol...oh well- i can live with that and the better mileage lol

did u ever think about using a dakota 5 speed?

i think that the only problem would performance accesories

i already have the t5 and the conversion bellhousing now so its a done deal
