Does anyone make a bracket to put the alternator on the driver side of a small block. It's going into a 71 race car and would like to run a short wire to the +side starter post. Is it possible to use the factory brackets and turn them around so it work on the driver side?

One of the recently active turbo threads showed a photo of that on a SB. I believe he said there was some modding required. Didn't look very difficult to me. But if all you are worried about is an extra 2-3 ft of wire, "don't" worry that is. Hell, some guys run the charging line, no8 or 6 clear back to the trunk.

If you don't have 6 or 8, parallel two or three no 10's

only reason to move the alternator is if it interfers with something you put on (IE external oil pump or turbo) don't move it because you thing a foot of wire is going to make a difference
