we had quite a few AMC hot rods in my neighborhood when I was growing up a beautiful 71 amx my friend had a 69 Javelin 343 and another good friend had a 68 AMX 390 but the Undisputed King of the neighborhood for many years was a tunnel rammed solid lift Rambler scrambler with 456 rear end what is slobber knocker I would have a AMC and a heartbeat

The Rambler scrambler had a red white and blue lace paint job with a tinted blue acrylic hood scoop and fender flares covering the tires about like a string bikini that car was dead sexy and dead fast

I'd like to buy one of these with a 4 speed. Not a AMC expert, so the journey would be fun!
It's actually on my bucket list to score a 4 door valiant or dart 70 to 72.

But if a neat rambler came along first...... that might fit the bill.

Would have to be 6 cylinder powered either way.

How bout some Gremlin love?
They were just so different.
That made them pretty cool in my head.
Some friends of mine were going to trade school in Phx.
Randall AMC in Phx.
Randall was putting 401s in Gremlins.
Randall brings Gremlins to trade school for educational purposes.
Educational purposes turn to white knuckle test rides :steering:

I love Gremlins. They remind me of a high top tennis shoe.

The later smog motors are just as good as the earlier motors. Just need to upgrade to the gm tbi and remove all the smog crap. My 258 really came to life once that carb and smog crap was removed. Definitely more power than any slant I ever drove and it's turning 35" tires.

They are......without the smog stuff.

I like the 69 Yankee Doodle Dandy SC/Rambler-Hurst, got to see one in the flesh about 10 years ago at a CPW Spring Fling event out here.

To me this is the holy grail of AMC

I LOVE wagons but I'd also take a 4 door sedan.
This is what defines AMC to me, a dependable family car that America would have wanted when it was new. This is.

The two tone is stylish

I must digress. TO me, THIS is the holy grail of AMC. The ADAM12 car. Note the small badges at the bottom of the front fenders. Yes, they denote the 401 big block AMC interceptor engine.

ADAM12 MATADOR.jpg

But I know you so I know you will say this is the cat's meow and not the Matador. lol

ADAM12 WAGON.jpg

One of the oddest pairings of body styles to hit NASCAR, the huge Matador. Just don't see many of them on the road today

Chrysler Imperial and hidden headlight Thunderbirds were strange to see in road race livery too.

Ya'll need to just stop it now..... I found myself looking at Marketplace last night for AMC's.... LOL

I have seen people on FB people giving what I call craze $ for Gremlins!!!!! lol

But I thing $5 spent at McDonalds is silly money also!

Last fall the local casino had one of their car give away promotions. Two Cream Puffs and a Junker  sumthin like that anyway. New Caddy, new Buick, and the junker a '73 Gremlin . I woulda shed the Cream Puffs and kept the Junker

I had a 67 Rambler American 2dr. Bought it in semi running state with the front sheet metal and dash off of it. Body was flawless .new bodywork including trunk floor. Biggest mistake selling it. Guy before me put a Chevy 350 and a T5 5spd. God it was fun. It was either keep it or my project 72 440 powered Swinger...

My big sister had a 66 Rambler American with a 6. Her first car, had to use both feet on the brake. It was primer gray and was never painted. About as plain a car as you could imagine, power nothing but had an A/T. Started every time and she never got a speeding ticket.

Now that's funny. lol First thing you know you'll have a new account with the screen name "304willrun". LOL.

Brother was on a race team years ago. They ran an SC/Rambler with 390, T-10, 4.10 rear. And open headers. He had to start it up to get it in the garage...... The Rebel is also with the, red, white, and blue paint scheme going. Also some had a rim blow steering wheel. AMC didn't get into the muscle car thing until the end.
