And so it begins. 69 Dart GT resto

Used a good durable undercoating on the floors and then spent about 4-5 hours putting in that sticky insulation mat. We are starting to assemble the body parts to get them lined up before paint.

I rebuilt the heater/defroster box and fresh air vents with a new heater core. Got rid of the remanence of the mouse nest and cleaned and painted. All mounted with new hoses.

Tin Cup modified the trunk hinges. No more tension rods. We went with 80lb shocks. Seems to work well and they are nice and quiet.

Today I put together the disc brake hubs. New bearings and seals. My other buddy says the engine is done. I will be picking it up next week.

The 440 is back in my garage. All new top end. I have a few things to button up then off to be installed in a few weeks.

No matter how many times we've gone through this car we still found another critters nest tucked away in the cowl/vent area. Good thing we found it before painting.

We are ready for paint tomorrow. Dart is wrapped up and cleaned it today. We will clean and wipe down again tomorrow before paint.

After a lot of buffing and wetsanding, the drivers 1/4 was a little off so Tin Cup sanded and repainted it.

Wow. That is R-E-D! No problem finding it in a parking lot, eh?

Brought the 440 over on the K-frame this morning. We just lowered the Dart over and bolted it in. Also got the 8 3/4 mounted. This week I'll be putting the suspension and brakes together.

Suspension is together, wheels are on. We need to move it around so I can start cleaning underneath at the floors. Now Tin Cup can paint the doors, fenders and trunk lid for mounting. This is the first time it's seen the light of day in a few years.

Spending the last couple weeks underneath the floors. I've wire wheeled the heck out of it. Probably a good 5 hours. Ready for some POR-15, seam sealer and rubberized under coating.

I painted POR-15 and seam sealed as much as I could. This weekend we will be taping off and praying the undercoating.

All painted and ready for the next steps. I installed the torsion bars and I'll spend this Saturday torquing down the suspension and lube job. Then we roll it out of the garage so the feders, doors and trunk can get painted.
