I know there is a lot of tkx stuff on here, but I have an odd ball question...
So, I want to get pretty much all my car done and ready before pulling the trigger on a blueprint 408. I figure im about a year out give or take.
Going with tkx 5 speed conversion from auto. I want to have the floor cut and everything ready so when I do get the blueprint engine, I can just install it all together without having to try and do the Trans mods then.
My question is, could I use a bare 360 la block I have, and bolt the tkx up to it for mocking up and doing the floor modifications ect.? I will be using the Hooker blackheart crossmember hoop BHS578. Silversport won't send me the floor template by itself, they said I have to buy the kit to get it. Also, it references to measure from the bell housing to mark the pilot hole for the cutout Anyway, and without that i would be concerned about making cut incorrectly.
I know I would be wasting about a year of the tkx warranty this way, but just trying to choose my best option.
Hope that makes sense. Am I over thinking it? I am open to suggestions for sure!
Thanks!

Been looking at TKX stuff
am working on t5 stuff

all of my t5 stuff was done with a spare engine my bellhousing my orginal trans and my new trans in the car and out of the car

so your 360 suggestion seems like a good idea

i set them up on blocks of wood all bolted together with the mount and cross member bracket in place and worked out how far i was out at any pertinent point using distance back from bellhousing face or trans face.

aim to get the end of the spline on the input level with the friction face of the flywheel and work out everything from there. or at least with the spigot in the roller or bush.
check position of mount and speedo drive...

some TKX stuff i have found rather than done.....

for mopar fitment the rear housing is usually machined down at the 2 rear shifter positions so that it is level with the shift rail tunnel top 1/8/14 inch milled off and a tin plate cover is bolted on with sealant
the TKX comes with a 4 bolt hole mount for the transmission mount they take off the ears and the outer bolt holes and use the inners on some mopar and mustang installs

a front shift kit can be used to put the shifter up in front of the cross member, with the machined section running under and behind, so that trans sits at the right angle but this only works with the right depth of bell housing.

here is how to modify the shift lugs in the front shift to make it front shift compatible usuing rear shift parts. i.e not having to buy custom shift lugs for that front box....
just remove eveything associated with the rear shift rail
Swapping a Tremec TKX Transmission to Front Shift the Easy Way (without splitting the case!) – Over The Reef

you could make/ modify a cheap shifter
most previous single rail tremec used a ball end on the shifter stub

This is what i would try as it appears that the TKX uses the same sized ball but with both sides shaved off.
there is a gap in the shift lugs when you have done the mod above
shave equal amounts from both sides of the ball on a T5/t56 shifter until it fits the slot and adjust till it works
make up a plate to bolt it down
a modified shifter will have no reverse lock out
after market TKX front shift shifters have one bolted in as i believe you loose it when you do not use either of the rear 2 positions.

on the whole i think you plan makes sense
