I installed my Simpson 5 point harnes today and I'm not sure where to weld the plate for the submarine belt? I'm thinking it should be under the seat? Or am I wrong and it should be where??
I was gonna make a 6x6x1/8 plate and weld a nut to the plate , then weld the plate to the floor pan. Dose this sound correct?

Thanks.

You put it in so if your in a crash you will never have children ever again lol. But really you install it just under the seat and what ever you do don't install it to a solid point on a frame. reason if you crash and the body separates from the frame the seat belt will kill you when they body moves the seat . Make sure it's a solid place on the floor pan or on the roll cage. " I have been some places and seen some things and I wouldn't recommend it "

Can to mount one to a bar on say the seat frame that bolts to the floor pan?

When I was racing off road I had my seat tied in to the cage and I ran my mount point off of the bar under the seat . If you can send a picture of your set up I can tell you the best place to mount it .

For me I was going to be using these mounts brackets for my seats.

Just the top portion. It's a street strip car, but I also prefer a double locking to keep it more secure. Was thinking of right in the place where wedge name is.

I always solid mounted my seats don't really trust the sliding mounts to not fail at high speeds. Just something to think about

Well true, if it was a full race car I would solid mount it, but it's more a street strip

Not sure the mount point on a street strip car . But if your doing speeds that required a cage aka under 11 sec I would solid mount .

A solid mount is easy to set up just make sure when your shoulders are back and your hauns is on your wrist is in the center of your steering wheel.

Humm, that's what I thought. Not good news for my fancy seat bracket... looks like mark 3 seat bracket may be in order..

And I thought rebuilding a old boat was pissing away money, turns out building a race car out of a old car is the best way to burn cash... I think my new hobby will be just throwing money out the window on the freeway. ..

:)

Lol when it's comes to safety I always spend a little more time and money. Rather have a broken down car then one that kills me .

Yes sir, I fully agree. I want to be able to put her into the wall and walk away... or at least not die...

My seat bracket is welded into the car. The kirky seat bolts to the bracket. It is non adjustable. It's my car and I'm building it just for me.

I will snap a pic this weekend.

Thank you.

looks like I would bolt it the floor, between the seat frame and the adj. handle. u can get by w/ really big, sandwiched washers and a grade 8 bolt if u do it right. unless your in a way way fast car.

NHRA requires it to be behind chest line, other words under your ***!! also, mounted to the floor pan.
