would be greatly appreciated. I just bought this truck thinking I could just buy a dash cover. Turns out the entire dash reinforcement and all is plastic and is just crumbling to pieces.
On that truck the top of the dash should be removable without removing the entire dash frame, and the VIN tag stays with the frame. Is your dash frame damaged? Post a picture.
The later trucks like my 1999 have a different design where the top dash "pad" is screwed on from behind. The whole dash has to come out and there is no replacement for mine that I know of.
There is an Accutrim part number DRD4-7 that says it is not an overlay, but I have not yet seen pictures of the back side of it and have not seen one in person. It is supposed to be for your style but not sure how much structure it has.
Good luck. White whale I (1/2T 2WD driver), WW II--1/2T 2WD bought cheap and junked, WW III-the 3/4T 2WD gas rig, and now the Grey Whale - 01 Cummins 5 spd later converted to 4WD ALL HAD RIDICULOUS dash breakage and damage. And lets not leave out the 96-97 V10 donor / parts truck for the 4WD conversion. Yep. It too.
I finally found a "good" dash bezel in a junker here locally. LOLOL. IT TURNED OUT to be one of the add on covers and I'm referring to the front bezel, not the top piece.
My advice? Buy or have your hot mistress/ girl friend/ wife/ other partner sew up a nice blanket to cover the thing
The THREE MONTH LONG conversion thread. It will be three years coming up this August
For those "newer guys," Del has had an entire "school" of whales, or do they come in pods? White Whale I, II, III, "Mini Whale" (Dakota) and now the "Grey Whale" is an 01 Dodge 2500 Cummins TWO wheel drive. LET'S convert it to FOUR wheel drive!! So today I drug home...
Seems like most of this vintage are cracked or ready to crack/crumble. That said I believe the sun's UV rays and heat contributed to the process. I would look in the northern states or Canada. Problem is shipping will kill the deal.
