Anyone ever upgrade 7 1/4 rear end

It's so hard to find a 8 3/4 axle around my area. So I'm thinking of upgrading my 7 1/4 rear end (gears). I want to keep my sbp craigers on my 71 dart swinger.

I did not long time ago, not very hard but it takes time. Would not do it if I had a V8 instead of my Slant 6. Here is a link how I did it: 7 1/4 Rebuild on the cheap

You can find 8 3/4 rear ends with small bolt pattern shafts (and sometimes the shafts themselves show up in the for sale section)

What engine? A 8 1/4 is good to around 500 hp on the street.

I just picked up 10 of them, they are around. Also, look into 8.8 Ford as they are everywhere for $150 and come with disks. I would not spend a dollar on a 7 1/4, specially since you can get a "ggod" one for $50. Where in Cali are you?
