Anyone ever used Summit's "Beat a price guarantee"?

Just wondering if anyone has used it, and how it has worked out?

Is it enough to just have another well known online vendor with a lower price, or does it have to be a vendor who "advertises" the price somewhere?

I've had them beat prices on ebay before. All you have to do is ask.

I've done it a few times. When I talk to them, they just ask for the website that has the lower price, and they beat it by either a penny or a dollar, I can't remember. Super easy though, they've never questioned it. I had come across an older site that hadn't raised prices like everyone else did, and they still matched it.

I ask Summit to beat a price all the time, some of their things are way high priced.

If I find it cheaper after the purchase from Summit, they’ll match it.

Living 10 minutes from one of their stores, I have them price match quite regularly. Now just to be clear, as an example, on an item from a site such as RockAuto, 1A or the like, they will include shipping costs on to the price since I'm cash and carry. They do have a limit to how much they will discount though. But they will always try to get close. Just FYI

This is all good news! I read other stuff on the Internetz that said they aren't good about it. Gonna keep this in mind when placing an order. I like supporting the smaller shops, but being in Canada, shipping can be bad and summit has the best deal on that typically with no surprises when the package arrives to you.
