My Duster has fiberglass bumpers that have never been painted, they’re just gelcoat or whatever it is. The car is getting painted soon. I always thought I would get the bumpers done in a chrome wrap. I have a small amount I got on eBay, and it worked on whatever it was I tried it on. I don’t expect it to go around the sharp end corners well, but is this something anyone has done?

There is some kind of paint that can be used to replicate chrome on glass and plastic parts. It is very labor intensive and from what I have heard, requires 2 painters in a booth to get it to look right. It's been a long time since I saw the video about it, but some of the F.A.S.T. racers used it on plastic bumpers to make them appear stock. Maybe some of the Pro painters here will know what it is.

I’ve tried the chrome wrap and it works well until like you say… the tight bends… heating it seems to make it change color…

@JDMopar was talking about…It’s called Moto-Chrome!

There’s some vids on YouTube that some guys have used it on.

Just be aware that it looks good until you clear it… but if you don’t clear it… it will wipe off and smudge!

Here’s another video of spray chrome… I haven’t used either one yet… I’m about to buy some and do some test sprays!

Wipe off and smudge? I'm surprised it sells.

If chrome wrap wrinkles around the sharp corners, I'm good with that. I don't care for the painted bumper look.

It’s meant to be clear coated and I’ve read some guys not clear coating it and they say it smudges… it’s the equivalent for f paint g something Silver and then rubbing your hand over it and it smudges!

The instructions tell you to rub it to a shine prior to clearing it.

Where you’re at… there’s bound to be a good vinyl wrap shop that you can take your bumpers to… just know that it’s also like paint… if there’s imperfections in the fiberglass or primer it will show up in the wrap!
