Does anyone out there actually have a 1968 Carter 4425S carb? If so, could you please do me a big favor: look at the end of the butterfly shaft that connects to the fast idle linkage and tell me if the peened edge contains a bent tang or if there is a separate part next to the peened edge that has the bent tang. I'm getting conflicting stories(most with later carbs) regarding my previous question and I want to make sure before I start swapping shafts.
Attached is a photo of my 4425S. The end of the shaft is perfectly round and there appears to be a piece missing that would go next to the peened end.

OK my 67 model is 4305S and taht shaft has 2 pieces on it so yees you are missing one. Here's a point to mddy the water or clear it up for you...
That shaft on my carb has a screw in the end of it.
Production methods changed so carb numbers changed. It doesn't surprise me to find the piece simply tack welded on in a fixture so to delete the machined srew hole and or keyway in production. The shafts probably are interchangable.

Where do you find a model without the tag? I have one that I don't know what model it is, it has two pieces on that shaft held on with a screw. The second piece appears to be a stop.

My part number is etched into the lower left front of the carb near the mounting hole. If you find it, please let me know. Also, is your an AVS or an AFB? Thanks, Bill
