The only thing I am waiting for is axles to do the full suspension swap! I am getting impatient , not Dr Diff fault, my piss poor prior planning to blame. But I wanna do it.

I never liked how close the holes are the edge of the flange. Plus I don't trust the machine shops here really.
you're overcomplicating this. just get a pair of bolt on billet adapters. it also widens the rear track out 2", which actually makes a duster/dart sport look correct, and not like a hippo in stillettos.

I bought a pair from these guys
but had them customized in this way:
1) center hub 59mm (2.32", SBP axles are 2 5/16", or 2.3125", this will make them hubcentric-- also specify them to keep the chamfer they put on the bore down to like .040-.050")
2) installed studs 1/2-20 instead of metric
3) lugnuts to attach to car 7/16-20.

been running for over a year and have had no issues. prior to this on my old 5th ave I had run similar billet adapters to run 17" mustang bullet wheels for like 7 years without any issues.

my rear I think isn't terribly long for this world, there's a lot of backlash, but it's actually the center pin hole in the differential is wallowing out. I plan on eventually replacing the axle with one from a ford ranger, which is 1.5" wider than the A body axle, and should put the tires in about the same place as the current axle with the adapters (well, it'll be 1/2" shorter)

BBP axles from a later 7 1/4 won't work in earlier SBP versions of the 7 1/4. Splines are different and I think they are a different length also. Dr. Diff had the BBP 7 1/4 axles he sells made to work back with the early versions and even allow you to keep your stock brakes by just redrilling the drums for BBP.

Why not upgrade to a more readily available 8.25 or 8 3/4 and call it a day

He's on the Big Island, in Hawaii. He probably owns the majority of old Mopars on the island....lol
even more reason to either buy billet bolt on adapters or convert to a ranger rear. hell, I'm in Michigan and good luck trying to find an BBP A body 7.25 or 8.25 axle or a 65-67 B body rear to swap in....

best to make a wanted ad in the classifieds. the locals are getting restless chi-chi.
Gee, that's a great idea. New, used, or where to buy. You can't beat a Parts wanted ad. It's better than getting your thread removed because it turns into E Bay. :mob:

I put a classified wanted up, let's see if it brings out the scammers LOL- that being said, if someone has a bolt in 8 1/4 on the west coast especially, I can frieght forward from Oakland, among other places.

Trying to figure this out, thanks for your reply- 2" out spacers won't make 205s rub the 1/4 panels? I am cool with some adapters, have run them on other rigs, I am worried about the offset wtih my rims though. I have the 15" cop style with dog dishes. 15 x 7s

what kind of car specifically? I have a duster, so the rear fenders flare out....this is my car with 225/70R14's on the back on factory 14x5.5" rims that IIRC are 3.75" backspace or or. IMHO, the rear width looks perfect without the hippo in stilletos look the stock rear end gives, and I still have 5/8"-3/4" to the outer wheel lip.

if you have an early A body or dart/valiant with the more skirted wheel opening, then an ford explorer axle shortened to center the pumpkin and use 2 stock RH axles so you don't need custom axles, the width should be 3/8" narrower than a stock A body rear (56 3/4" wide for the modded explorer 8.8, 57.125" for an A body 7.25")...check out this thread for more details 8.8 swap
