A couple of weeks ago every time I would start the car it sounded like a belt screech. So I went ahead and changed both belts. That didn't help still did it, so I thought maybe the alternator bearings maybe on there way out so I changed the alt. nope still did it. So I thought maybe the power steering pump was going bad, changed that nope still did it. I had a friend listen under the hood to see if he could pin point it and he said it sounded like it was coming from the back of the engine so I had him get in the car and hit the gas while I listened and it sounded like it was coming from the carb. I pulled the air clean and had him hit the gas again and sure enough the screech was coming out of the secondary's of the carb. To rule this out I changed the carb and it was perfect no screech when I hit the gas. The screeching carb is only a month old, called the National Carb Tech line where I bought the carb and they gave me a couple of things to do but that didn't help. I have to call them back this morning so we will see if they stand by their warranty. I read great reviews on this company and some members here have purchased Edelbrocks from them with no issues that's why I purchased from them. Will update

Has to be vacuum related, like a whistle. Maybe the way the throttle blades seat in the bores. Make darn sure you don't actually have a gasket leak

Does your engine have EGR? Any other vacuum accessories? Brake booster?

It's not a whistle it's a screech like a belt, secondary throttle blades are closed completely no gasket leak as I had a 1/2 laminate spacer on so I took that off and put new gaskets on and that did not help. It only does it off idle, going down the road it's fine if I hit it. I talked to a good friend who is a mopar engine builder and he said it really sounded like a issue with the airhorn in the cab. As I said in my original post I changed the card and it went away so It's definitely a carb issue.

I have this exact problem with my eddy 600. Loud screech with over 1/4 throttle only in 1-2 gear, goes away when warm. Weirdest thing, does not "seem" to be a vacuum leak. I'm kinda glad its not just me.
