I'm looking for someone in the Bay Area (San Jose) that's got a 2nd gen Dart that is willing to help me diagnose a drive-train vibration. I have a 1967 Dart 360/904, and I'm looking for someone with a 904 transmission, 8 3/4" rear end that is willing to let me use their drive shaft for diagnosis purposes.

I've been chasing a drive-train vibration for a year now. This is a completely new build, so there are lots of possibilities causing the problem. This is a cyclical/pulsating vibration. Below is a list of thing's I've done to troubleshoot this, and I'm to the point now where I want to swap in a known good drive shaft just eliminate mine a the problem.

Brand new Denny's drive shaft and slip yoke.
Had the drive shaft balance re-checked.
Rebuilt 904 including new tail shaft bushing.
Changed tail shaft bushing two times now.
Dialed in the pinion angle
Was using a known good 741 rear end, and now using a known good 742 rear end.
Was using torque converter that came with trans, and have swapped in a new one.
Rebuilt the correct 360 harmonic balancer (Damper Dudes).
Was using a stock flex plate, and now using a new one.
Swapped wheels fronts to back, backs to front.
Made sure exhaust is not contacting the underside of car.

So yeah, I'm looking for a generous person who wouldn't mind lending me a drive shaft to help me narrow things down a little more. Thank you so much!

I have a driveshaft out of my '71 Dart that's a 318/904 8 3/4 around here somewhere, but I'm a good 2.5-3 hours out of San Jose depending on where you're at. Also, just FYI a Duster driveshaft will not work for you, you've got a 111" wheelbase car and Dusters/Demons/Barracuda's are all 108".

The driveshaft you're looking for should be ~51.5" c-c.

Have you checked your engine and transmission mounts? I assume you've also changed the u-joints when you were checking and re-balancing the driveshaft?

Thank you for the specs on the wheel bases. I updated my posting. Yes mounts are solid.

If you’ve got solid mounts it could be an engine vibration.

You’ve got a 360, so, are you sure you have the correct balance on the damper, crankshaft, flex plate and converter?
