anyone shipped tires via UPS or Fed Ex

I've got a pair tires I need to send to a buddy (275-60-15).I really don't know how to package them for shipment. Any ideas ?

Shipped plenty,
Tie them together with duct tape while squishing them together.
Avoid being charged for two tires to ship. Did it with a few slicks and a pair of front runners. This was shipped at a UPS Store.

Never shipped any but have received plenty from Tire Rack over the years. They have always been shipped two tires strapped together with the packing list and shipping label affixed to the tread.
