Are all 1969 Dart 340s coded as a GTS?

Does the GTS model have its own VIN (like: LS23P9)? Or is it a code on the fender tag/build sheet?

No. There are a few different codes. LM23P9B is a code for hi-po 340 Darts. This could be the same on GTS 340's.
Not all GTS's, and Swinger's were 340's.

My 1969 Dart 340 has the VIN LM23P9 so how do I tell? I do not have the fender tag or build sheet. No way of knowing anymore?

LM is a Swinger model
LS is a GTS model
LP is a GT model
LL is a Low line(plain jane) model
So, in order for your dart to be a GTS, the VIN would have to start with LS.
GTS could have a 340, 383, or M code 440.
GT could only go as high as a 318 engine
Swinger could be 318 or 340(maybe even some 6 cyls out there)
LL cars were almost always 6 cyl, or 318(or that years' small V8 )

Without a fender tag or broadcast sheet you must rely on the VIN

L= Dart

L = LOWLLINE
M = MEDIUM PRICE
P = PREMIUM CLASS
S= SPECIAL CLASS

23= 2 DOOR HARDTOP

P = 340

9 = 1969 MODEL YEAR

B = HAMTRAMCK (SP?)
E = LOS ANGELES

Will this help you?
There is a vin tool called decode.exe. I can mail it to you but not post it.
