Are rear bench seats the same '70 and '74?

I have questions regarding seat covers that I hope someone can answer for me.

- I have a 1970 Dodge Dart Swinger with the original 1970 rear bench seat. For the front bench I have installed a 1974 split bench with fold down center armrest. I would like to buy upholstery for both.

- Do you know if a 1974 rear bench seat is the same shape and size as a 1970 rear bench seat?

- I'd like to order front upholstery for the 1974 front bench and also order 1974 rear upholstery so that it all matches. I'm just not sure if it will fit properly on a 1970 rear bench.

No they are not. The '74 rear seat bottom is notched in the rear corners for the retractable seat belts where the '70 rear seat bottom is full width. The seat back should be the same.

Thanks for the reply. If that's the main difference then I could likely have the local upholstery guy modify it even if it required a small extra section professionally put in to make it work.

Yeah, they could probably do that. You'd never see it once the seat was installed.
