Are Walmart Mopar oil filters good?

-
True. But not in the filter number i need. Oil or air filter. At least, not in the store. Walmart can get anything on line. I just don't do that.
I don't shop on line either, I believe in supporting our local stores, if they ever close up then look out as the online prices will go up significantly.

This truck is something!
F550 6.0 diesel
Cartridge oil filter. Motorcraft list, $71
Air filter element, Cartridge style (on you tube as the most difficult air filter to change. I believe it!)
Motorcraft list $109
Dual Cartridge fuel filters, designed to either spray you with diesel fuel if you open the wrong one first, or simply pour a quart of diesel down your arm and onto your chest if you open the right one first.
Motorcraft list $81.
I can find alternate prices for these, but still...... an oil change (14 quarts) and air, oil, and fuel filter change will run $200+. Good thing I bought (a VERY utilitarian truck!) cheap! Thanks california. (Cal bans commercial diesels by year, every two years.)

I never heard Amsoil filters mentioned , they are expensive but i think they are of very good quality .

I have never experienced any problems or failures due to any brand oil filter I have ever used in nearly 40 years of daily/normal street use driving with 3k oil changes. That includes Walmart Super-tech and even Fram.

Rob's (crackedback) famous quote of "paralysis by analysis" come to mind.

In my past 45 years of owning 4 Mopar muscle cars including my current HP 340 I have only used Fram oil filters and I have never had an issue. When Walmart came to my area 10 years ago I purchased Fram oil and air filters from them and once again I have had Zero issues.

The only filter I ever had a problem with was a Wix on my 12 valve Cummins. Filter leaked around the crimped seam. Contacted Wix and crickets.......

The leak was slow enough that there was no evidence of leakage just after the oil change when I checked. Glad I didn't head out on a road trip.

The thing is, even if you never had a problem with a product, it can still be inferior.
Any product can fail … and I have had the worst luck with “high end”, higher priced products, in general. It’s all “Ford or Chevy”, “Coke or Pepsi”, “Republican or Democratic” … nobody is really going to talk someone into or out of whatever they prefer or are comfortable with. I am just saying I have never had any failure with an oil filter and being upfront that I change them every 3-3,500 miles. If someone “wants” to pay $25 or more for an oil filter, that is their choice. IMHO, I don’t feel its always necessary but, just like I can’t bring myself to run synthetic oil more than 3,500 … do whatever gives you the “warm and fuzzies”.
