I am trying to hunt down the correct carb numbers for some of my cars ......problem is that it seems that carbs are more common for autos. I don't own anything with an auto so is a carb that is listed for an auto something I can use if I modify it?

What will I need to modify or is it something I shouldn't do?

Thanks

Carburetors don't know what transmission you are using. Sometimes there are differences in linkage that allow kickdown to be used. Sometimes there are small differences in jetting. Even some small differences in the distributor vacuum advance outlet to allow a different advance rate, but all of these differences are very easily overcome or tuned out.

yes chrysler did change jetting on carb going from auto to manual, some times. i found that a 1967 273 AFB the auto and manual the frond and rear jets are the same primary .089" secondary .073". but the rods are diff manual 16-403 auto 16-405. sorry i dont have my rod charts with me. and found the 383 and 440 to about the same. the Hemi carbs have the same pri jets on all 4 jets ,089". and the sec jets are staggered.front carb .1065 L. .089 R. rear carb .080 L .082 R. rods front carb 16-136. rear 16-440 just some of things i found.
