what is needed for a conversion from an automatic 904 to manual transmission?

My list so far:
4 speed Transmission
Bell housing
Shifter
Shifter boot
Z bar
Clutch pedal or new quadrant assy
Hole in floor
Clutch assy with TOB
Manual steering g column
Ball stud
Fork
What am I missing?

Hi
On my side, I made a swap from 3-speed to 4-speed (floor shift) and I had to find some of these parts
Depending of your car and the transmission year, finding the correct Z-bar can be tricky.

Good luck
Francois

Do you know if the same z bar was used on both the big blocks and small blocks? Seem like there would not be a difference?

z-bars and forks are specific to application, as are the ball studs.

you'll need a pedal to z bar push rod, the service kit and clips for that and the z bar and the boot for the pushrod. frame ball stud & the specific ball stud for the bell and application. fork pivot for the bell/fork application. dust cover and "starter seal".

shifter rods/levers (i'm assuming that you've got that covered in "shifter")

don't know what trans you have, but you may need a new yoke and to shorten the shaft.

adjustment rod and those bits (they're specific to years/applications)

new floor hump or to fab one up.

flywheel.

Thanks for these details. All this application specific hardware sounds like a real headache given my unique setup. Btw I currently have a A904 behind a 340 with a 8.25 rear. All this in a 70 bbody Satellite.

About the inner ball stud which retain the Z-bar, depending of the year of the A833 gearbox bellhousing, its location differs and may lead to adaptations.
In my case, my A833 bellhousing is from 1966. My original '71 Z-bar was working at an angle and didn't push enough onto the clutch fork. It had to be cut and rewelded in the correct position

yeah, running down all the fiddly little bits can be frustrating. especially if you're buying it bit by bit as you find it come up for sale. the big pieces of the puzzle are important: crash box, bell, shifter, etx but then it's all the little ancillary stuff that just straight up wears you out, one order at a time.

Would a hydraulic clutch be easier to install instead of all the Linkage?

Nope....you need the 4 speed hump shown in the link below. It fits over your existing floor, then you trace around it with a Sharpie, then cut the floor section out an inch or so inside that line you traced. You have to be careful not to cut or damage the torsion bar crossmember if it is underneath the line you trace.

I have every piece that you would need . Trans is fresh as is the shifter and every part ready to install. Make me an offer. I have all the parts including hump , pedals for any year, Driveshaft , all bolts brackets and linkage. including reverse light for dash and all wiring . Make me an offer. shipping will be truck freight.
