Ok so im at the junkyard right now and im surrounded by ford explorers. Plenty of d4 axle codes that indicate limited slip with 3.73 gears, but when I spin the wheels they spin opposite directions. Any input on the ford 8.8?

Is the tag on the pumpkin? Im looking at the door jam tag. This particular one is a 4x4 code d4. All internet sources ive found say its limited slip, but the way it spins opposite directions tells me other wise

The one on blinn. This place is pretty good. Didnt get the rear end today, but I made off with a 360 magnum out of a ram 2500. 190,000 miles though so I have to rebuild it though. Had my eye kn a 440 but It was in a motorhome and I couldnt snag it

Pull up the "sticky" from the 8.8 swap thread under "Transmission and drivetrain tech" in this forum. There is a link to "Therangerstation.com" that has the ford axle and door codes.

That's the site I pulled the codes from. I took a screenshot of it before I went with me. All the door jams said "d4" but the were open diffs I think. O well, I'll have to swing by again on another half off day and check the carrier tags too. I was totally befuddled when I spun the tires and they were open.

Thanks dudes!

The door jambs only give the ratio so that is why you must check the tag or pull the cover. It is smart to pull the cover and inspect it anyway.
