I'm installing a sealed bearing conversion kit in my 8 3/4. The kit came with only two flange gaskets. I'm trying to understand the sealing requirement for this install. The bearings themselves are sealed. There is also an O-ring on the outer surface of the bearing. Also two inner axle seals are included. To duplicate the original gasket combination, I would need another pair of flange gaskets. Anyone?????

The inner seals are to keep gear lube from washing out the original greeased type bearings. The outer gasket is to seal the original type open bearing so grease don't leak out into the brakes. I can't see why you'd still need it with green sealed bearings either. For that matter I don't see why you'd actually need the inner seals either since the green bearing is inner and outer sealed. But I guess it's good insurance.

I guess I will install the setup with inner new axle seals, and the two supplied gaskets. Perhaps a light coating of sealant on the other mating surfaces. It maybe overkill, but will not leak in my lifetime. Howard
