Could someone please verify the 8.25 axle housing end bolt pattern specification is the same as the 8.75... minus the bottom 5th bolt hole as I know the 8.25 does not have one.

Here is the Moser spec for the 8.75 I am using on my shortened housing.

The reason why I'm asking is for a possible future disk brake swap described in another post as from a jeep cherokee to an 8.25. I have seen many posts of people doing this on 8.25 but there lies some confusion about the 8.75.

Thanx kindly

WOW!

This was only visual but;

1) I took a look at the axle ends on the 7.25 currently on my 76 dart (bbp) and looks like the end flares out from 2.5" to 3" and looks to have the same flange to backing plate 5 bolt pattern as an 8.75!
2) Also looked for curiosity sake at the axle ends on the 9.25 on my 74 Charger and that looks like the same flange to backing plate 4 bolt pattern as an 8.25!

I guess I'll be taking a closer look and making measurements in the Spring if someone with way more experience than me can confirm this or tell me that I'm out of my mind.

Thanx

I know for sure that the bolt pattern for an 8.75, 8.25 and 9.25 rearends are the same.

I also know for sure that the bolt pattern for the Jeep Grand Cherokee disc brake backing plates is smaller than the 8.75 housing end. I was working on a Grand Cherokee disc conversion this past summer and I know you have to drill out one of the holes on the backing plate to fit the 8.75. The pattern is close but just enough smaller that I will have to enlarge the holes to make it work.

Excellent!

Thank you very much Joe. Have you completed the swap? Have you worked out the parking brake cables?

I'd really like to eventually convert both the Dart and Charger. I'll be swapping out the 7.25 for 8.75 in the spring on the Dart with all new 11x2.5 drum brakes for now anyways.

If I find a cherokee in th bone yard I'll be collecting all the bits for a swap.
