I have some 10" five hole flange (8 3/4, Dana). can someone tell me how I can tell if they are for A body brakes? It has to do with the offset of the flange mounting area, but I've forgotten exactly how. Thank you drive through.

If you put the backing plates flat on a table with the e-brake mounts hanging off so the plate sits flat and measure down through the center of the plate to the surface

10" SBP plates should measure ~1.25"

10 or 11x2.5" plates should measure ~1.75"

11x2" plates should measure ~1.5"

11x3" plates should measure ~2"

Thanks yall. This is helpin......sorta. lol I'll get a measurement and post it. Maybe that will help.

Ok, measuring JUST like you describe, I got 1.750. So these are 10" B body plates then?

what did 11x2" brakes come on? have them on the dart and swore i got them from a 67ish newport but can't find them.. i want to re do them....

The couple sets that I’ve personally come across were on 65-66 C-bodies. I think they came on some of the B’s as well but that may have been due to a production issue? I have a couple of those earlier C-body 8 3/4’s because they used to show up in the yards more often than any other 8 3/4 and they’re a bit narrower than the van and truck 8 3/4’s.

As for re-doing them, best of luck. Most of the 11x2.5” hardware should work, but I know the few times I’ve looked into it the drums and shoes haven’t been in production.

yea, i swear it was a c-body of some sort.... i looked on rock auto and it looks like all they have are 2.5". i'll have to play around a bit more.. i have a wider set of backing plates and drums out int he garage,, have to see if they are a matched set and maybe i'll just go that route.

try napa. i have some 11 x 2 and was thinking of rebuilding them but do not see a market for them as good as my 10 or 11 x 2 1/2 are.

ok, found 2.5" backing plates and drums.. is all the 2.5" shoes and hardware the same???

Yes, for the 11” brakes. Anything you have for the 11x2’s will work for the 11x2.5’s. The shoes are pretty much all the same now, they should accommodate parking brake levers that have the pins or slots.
