These 2 plates are identical
Same peg and center height
The area where the wheel cylinder attaches is different
Does it matter?

You may have one front and one rear. One plate has a wheel cylinder piston retainer. I think these were more common on rears.
The attaching bolt pattern is quite different on front plates vs rears. Center height and hole diameter are also substantially different.

OP, my best guess is early vs late model backing plates- somewhat different but functionally interchangeable. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm mistaken.

JMO but it looks like it’s lost the piece that is on the bottom one, the pinch weld looks like it let go.

There’s nothing wrong with it. Those are normal. I just ran into this a while ago trying to remember what the heck the difference was. Getting old. If you look in your 69 - 70 shop manual and look up rear brakes that’s how I figured it out.

One is early one is later. The one with fingers is a design feature they put on them to prevent the pucks coming out of the wheel cylinders. Both will work the same
