I bough a set of upper and lower ball joints from a guy that said they fit 74-76 the bigger one apparently but when I put my 1"7/8 wrench on the one on the car it is a little lose but will not quite fit on the new one I am wondering if because my car was built in either 10 or 11 of 1973 maybe they hadn't changed them yet? My question is will my new uppers still thread in if that is the case or is the whole thing bigger just wondering if I need both sockets and that will do the trick or if I need different ball joints?

if it's a slant six car there is a good chance it will have the small joints...

Should have the large ball joints no matter which brakes are on a 74, but that's just what I've been told......... It should be easy enough to check the size.
