Band Adjustment and Shift Kit Question

A friend of mine gave me the 727 TF out of his 1972 truck that had a 318. He told me it had been sitting for about 5 to 6 years and that it had a new torque converter and a shift kit. He couldn't remember what brand shift kit was put in by the tranny shop that did the torque converter nor what stall the converter has. The torque converter is the 12 inch type. Should I use the factory settings for adjusting the bands or do shift kits require other settings?

Use factory settings. Band adjustments are a function of band and apply levers. neither should have changed with a shift kit. I'd replace the front, rear, and shift lever seals while it is out.

I am not a trans expert by a long shot but adjust the bands to factory specs, the torque converter will do its job, and the shift kit will do its job also, someone else will chime in to conform this.
