There are pins that hold the inserts in place. I believe there is a recess area that the inserts set in also. Minor surface rust on bottom. PM for bottom side pictures.

Amazing what you can do with some Krylon Dull Aluminum, Krylon Semi-Gloss Black, Dupli-Color Graphite wheel paint and some tape.
Still look the same 4+ years later. Not bad for about $20 in materials.

No, the hood is not a direct bolt on. If you are asking about the inserts, they are also not a bolt on for a 69 hood.
A 67-69 hood will bolt on a 69 but the body lines between the hood and header panel will be way off.
If you want a 67-68 hood on a 69, you also need to replace the header panel and grille assemblies with those from a 67-68.
If you want to dress up a 69 hood, I recommend the scoops and hood treatment from a 69 with the Cuda package.

Thanks for the info. Looking for a replacement 69 hood. They are tough to find.

They shouldn't be that hard to find. The hood off of a 73+ Dart is the same.
Find a 73 Dart 4 door that's being parted and there is your hood.
