Anyone ever use one of these battery toppers?
I'm having a hard time coming off of $299 for a group 24 battery from Antique Auto Battery. I've also heard they have a short life.
I was looking at the toppers and for $45 I'm willing to give it a try. But if they just look to cheesy, maybe not.
Also anyone know where to find a decal to replicate the embossed mopar logo on the old battery's?

I got one from these guys and I think it's great.... you will need to find a flat top battery for it to fit on...but it pretty much looks like the real deal!!

WARNING WARNING WARNING DO NOT BUY one of those retro tar top batteries...they are $300 ++ JUNK!!! A guy near me in another club became a dealer 2 years ago....he sold around 30 batteries that summer..... EVERY ONE OF THEM CAME BACK INSIDE OF ONE YEAR!!!! He ended up taking a loss and giving people their money back and dropping the franchise!!!! his margin was $15 per Battery...if they were decent he could have made a few bucks...but every one of them was JUNK. they advertise 550 CCA we tested a brand new one on the load bank.... after a full charge the most we could draw before failure was 215 CCA..... DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THEM.....but a decent flat op battery and a cover

66cuda, Thanks for the link and the headsup on the retro batteries.

Those toppers look like a great thing.

As far as batteries are concerned...I used to use the Antique Battery company. I had one fail prematurely. They told me on the phone to bring it to Spring Carlisle...which I did. A friend's father had a battery company and told me that a cell was bad and not repairable, so I figured Anttique Auto Battery would replace it. Heck, I was even good with paying some pro-rate. Nope. They wanted to put some chemical in it to :bring it back".

I walked to New Castle Battery and bought a new one. I have bought several from them since and they've all been very good. Of course, I also put a tender on if they're left unstarted for any long amount of time. They changed hands awhile back, but since then I did buy one of their newer AGM batteries for the Scamp..and it's been fine.

One good battery tip. Schumacher makes a really inexpensive battery maintainer that's only about $20. I bought several at Wal-Mart. For two of my cars, I even made up cigarette lighter plugs to hook up the charger. (It's peak charge rate is only 1.25A)

Update...New Castle battery is now Axion. Their group 24 AGM battery is $209 on their site.

That was the guy I was looking at for the topper.
I went ahead and ordered this morning. He's willing to offer a money back guaranty, so what the hell.
I also ordered the extenders, now, if I can find a decal, maybe this won't look to bad.

I bought 2 batteries from Chrysler dealer to have a mopar battery in my 1981 Imperial. they gave me a 90 day warranty and the next year the piece of junk was bad

Bought a topper for it and took the tooper to Interstate and they found the coorct battery to use with it. I have since bought one for the Dart and again using an Interstate battery. It has been in the dart for going on 4 years with no problem and it looks real

Thanks for the link!

Now all I need to figure out is which caps came on a 1970 Dodge Dart GT?
Anybody know?

Later,

Cannot help with correct color for a 70

here is a picture of the battery in my car

I picked red to go with the red plug wires and didn't care if it was correct since not much on my car is correct.

Personally I think the battery topper is the only way to go.

If you had a high dollar show car and needed a correct for points then have a good battery to use for daily use and a junk core to put in at the shows. batteries are to be disconnected so it don't matter if it is dead or not
