i got a bell housing at a swap meet. it neds to fit a 78 318 that is bolting up a 4 speed. the bolt pattern on this housing does not match the trany nor the engine. i am wodnering if i got a a housing for a magnum engine. so do magnum engines have different housings? :-|

I haven't seen one in a while, but I think the granny 4 speed housing is different from the regular 4 speed housing, too.

Mopar casting numbers for the tranny, and the bellhousing??

Swap meet people, and Yard sales, will sell you what you want.

"Yep it'll fit that"; Doesn't mean that it will. :(

Check the starter location on your new bell. If it is roughly at 11:00, you have a /6 bell housing. If the starter is in roughly the same position as your 318, but won't bolt to the block and seems slightly larger, you have a big block bell housing. Since the tranny bolts don't line up, I'm guessing you have either a /6 3 speed bell or a big block granny 4 speed bell out of a truck. Hope this helps.

here are some pics the engine is on a stand so i couldnt get any pics of it
