Hello, I am looking for a bellhousing to put a 3 speed behind a 318 in a 1968 Valiant. I looked up the casting numbers and came up with 2780900 and 2780902. If you have any other parts for this conversion please let me know. I live in NC. Thanks, Erick

If it were me, I'd try to use what was supposed to be in that car. That way everything fits properly without having to modify anything. Do yourself a favor and use the 745 trans instead of the 903. The 903 is a piece of junk. Slant 6's will blow them up. The 745 even came behind big blocks. The stock bellhousing for your car is one that only came on '67 and '68 A-bodies with a 273 or 318 engine and the 745 transmission. The 230 is a good transmission too, but, then you have to get the correct bellhousing for it, and then play around to make your clutch linkage and shifter stuff work. Not worth it in my book.

Most later bellhousings have a dual pattern to accept a 4 speed or 3 speed. Since you have 68 Valiant they fit and can easily be made to work. The later bellhousings also use a 10.5 clutch. The 66 uses a 9.5 clutch and I'm not sure which clutch linkage to use in a 68.

I have the 68-71 for the 10 1/2 in clutch for 230 3 speed i can sell
