Could anyone give me specific details on how to bench test my stock AM radio from my 72 Dart?

i would imagine you just hook up a power, ground and a speaker.I could be wrong!!!!

to bad since its only AM you cant test if it actually can play MUSIC, haha

no but seriously maybe I can just use a 9V for power?

look here. you can get SOME sound out of a 9V even without grounding the antenna, despite what they say at the other thread. from the inside it looks like if you ground the frame you ground the antenna.

schematics would sure be nice, thing looks simple enough to even make your own schematics. I'm talking about a 69 dart solid state btw...

12v power supply or battery. + to power lead wire, - to chassis of radio. Connect any speaker - polarity not important. You must have an antenna plugged in.

thanks for all the replies to an old question. Seems like a simple question but what I was missing was the ground to the chassis.
