best 833

setting up a 68 2 door valiant sedan with 440 and 833 i am new to mopar world, out of all 833's is there a better one for this shifter location and so forth this is a on going project any advise , help i would like to here from you. blasterboy
 
The best fit is an a-body four speed. You want to avoid the early ones (both with the Ball and Trunnion u-joint and those with the 904-size output shaft).
 
The later a-833s with the scissor type shift mechanism(inside the side shift cover) are not as desireable either
 
pre 1970 the shifting mechanism was a ball detent set up(prefered) and after was the scissor type...buy I do have the scissor type in my Duster and no problems yet
