best gear ratio for my setup

I have a crate 360 384 hp/435 tq and have an 8 and 3/4 rear end. I can get a posi 3.23 or a sure grip 3.55 3rd member..thanks in advance for your inputs

3.55 is the standard choice for performance gears, look at the post dusterdude72 has going on right now.

..everybody has been convinced that 3:55 are the go to gear but i prefer 3:23!

my opinion would be if your rear tire is smaller than 26.5 323/ larger 355 or 391

Just today I went and picked up my 4.30 from the trans/gear shop.
I also have 3.23 in the car now.
So I have a 3.23 which are too high for around town, and a 4.30 which is a too low to run on the highway.
Figure out what you can tolerate on the roads you will be driving on, tire size is crutial, but a 3.55 is a real nice compromise gear.

I run a Ferd 9", and had a 3.89, now 3.7x. I run tall 15" tires which put me at about 32-3300 or so at 70. For the way I drive the car, I love it. A-727 will "do" about 80 in 2nd. Engine has no valve springs, I only turn it 5200 or so, have the limiter on the EFI set to 5.5K
