My headliner in the Dart needs a little help. I have a seam above the back seat about a foot or so that has come apart. Also about 6-8 inches on the side behind the left back door. It wasn't that bad before but I suppose driving with the windows down last summer took it's toll.
What's the best way to fix this? Regular old needle and thread? It is a driver, not a show car, so the fix doesn't necessarily have to look perfect but I don't want to get out the duct tape either. Pretty sure it's original headliner to the car, the rest of it is in great shape. Thanks.

I doubt a needle and thread would pull the seam together but cant hurt to try.
Everywhere there is a seam in the fabric there is also a sleeve that the bow/support goes through. I'm going to guess the bow sleeve, thread, and headliner are rotten.
I dont know why headliners wick water in above the back doors of 4 door As.

if the thread has rotted, odds are so has the sleeve and the headliner itself....best way is to replace it! Give hand sewing it a try, you never know you may get lucky but expect it to fail!

In a pinch, you could try some fabric adhesive. Probably available at WalMart or any fabric store. I would guess you'd need to add some add'l material to the back of your headliner to mate/join the seams. It dries clear too......
