What`s the best way to remove the old crappy undercarriage coating (71 Duster)? Want to clean it up, fix any issues, paint it. Hope to avoid using a heat gun. This car is never driven on wet roads. Thanks for the help in advance.

I removed all of mine by putting car on lift and using steam cleaner. It melted the factory undercoating right off without harming the zinc coated metal. It is a messy job but was worth it in the end,Joe

I used a propane torch and a small scraper, then clean with lacquer thinner.
It is a lot of work. Also a lot of rags and use a small and large wire brush.
Do not use torch near the lacquer thinners (flammable). And dry the dirty
rags outside , spread apart before throwing them out.(spontaneous combustion).
Hope this helps you.

I used a high powered pressure washer 3200psi I think.
