instead of making a bunch of threads along my journey I'll just put it all in one.
I'm doing a 4 speed swap in my 72 swinger with a 383. so far I picked up the used trans and rebuilt it with brewers parts. I also ordered the QuickTime bellhousing that comes with all hardware and block plate.
next up is the clutch setup, I talked to brewers "awesome people btw" and they recommended these clutch kits.
Brewer's Performance - Mopar A833 4-Speed Transmission and Component Specialists
Brewer's Performance - Mopar A833 4-Speed Transmission and Component Specialists. I'm still undecided on which one to get.
but also since alot of people ask I will keep a price list here so everyone can see!
-used 2.66 gear a body trans $450
-brewers rebuild kit w/synchros $170
-quicktime bell $619 shipped...ouch...
-McLeod super Street pro clutch kit $438

here's what it's all going to go in

Nice start! I'll be doing the same setup hopefully in my 69 Dart. I have a couple more parts to collect to convert from auto to manual still, but hopefully your thread will be a good reference. Good luck!

I say ditch the factory clutch linkage and go hydraulic, you won't regret it!

just pulled the trigger on the McLeod super Street pro clutch with bolts. $438

No adjustments needed, linkage is gone, more room for headers. Price is high to start with, but that's the only con I see.

clutch and bellhousing came today....I'm a little pissed tho, the block plate bolt pattern doesn't match the bellhousing...

shift operating levers from brewers, $60
Hurst super shifter with custom rods and hiem ends, free from my boss

Mancini hooked me up with the block plate, problem solve! operating levers came today so I can start to mock a few thing up on this bad boy

made a temp shifter mount to see what I need to do to the linkage rods, going to make the final piece out of 1/2" aluminum. it will set the rods perfectly straight with the shift levers. now I have to shorten the rods and re thread them, and make a reverse rod.

little update, I got the shift rods made and the bracket fabed up, thanks to my buddy for letting me use his Bridgeport.
I also got the McLeod light weight billet flywheel and ARP bolts. and a nice set of clutch pedals thanks to Tony's Parts.
I'm dealing the deal on a 4 speed tunnel now so all that's left is the clutch fork, z bar, and rods. once we get another nice day I'm going to get the bell dial indicated. I did stick the bell on the motor and it does clear the stock tunnel, no need to flatten the seam in the firewall/tunnel

I picked up a brand new repop floor hump for $100,and the McLeod liteweight flywheel came. now I have everything besides clutch linkage parts. started to mock up bellhousing and had to pull out oil plugs from the back of the block and trim them down on the lathe to get the block plate on. I have to massage the tunnel a tad for the bellhousing to clear, and trim a small part of the tunnel seam, up next bellhousing run-out!

got my bellhousing aligned, got block plate, flywheel, and clutch on. got trans bolted to bellhousing.

now my problem, when I went to put the trans mount and cross member in my mount is too long, by about 3/4 of an inch.
I thought the mounts for auto and 4 speed were the same?

Pic? Do you have the cross member 180 out?

What trans mount do you have?

well I got it, took the spacer off and jacked trans up slightly. still have some floor surgery to do but it's comming together!

That's the right mount.

trans is in, floor cut and shifter installed.
I made a bracket from 6061 aluminum that moved the shifter up and slightly back, shift rods are nice and straight and don't hit crossmember.

now I'm working on getting the brake pedal out to make way for clutch pedal assembly. not too bad so far but laying up under the dash I always fun!

before I weld tunnel in I have 2 new front floor pans I'm going to put in as well

well I ordered the last of the parts.
z bar kit
clutch fork
clutch pedal rod and adjusting rod
frame bracket
clutch rod boot
ball studs
all from brewers, another $470.
last step is I got a driveshaft from a friend I have to get shortened!

Well I'm getting all the linkage mocked up and ran into the first problem, the bell housing ballstud and spacer bolts are too big for the holes in the QuickTime bell housing.

All that money for a bell you would think they would make the holes the right size!
