got a set of hooker super comp fenderwells. cleaned and dried the bolt holes. permatexed the bolts, let sit for an hour, tightened. I filled the radiator and have no leaks. I do however now have an exhaust leak. my main question is can I now tighten further without it causing a coolant leak by possibly breaking the seal the permatex has created on the threads? also did I miss some kind of break in of the gaskets? they are "flatout" gaskets that were recommended by a friend, but to tell you the truth they looked kinda narrow in the profile to me.

I forget who makes them, but there is a company who makes a thicker gasket that conforms to headers better.

I would also pull the bolts and install studs in the front and rear-most header bolt holes. Helps keep a seal. But in the meantime, it can't hurt to try tightening them. Worst case, you'll just have to pull them and reapply some thread sealant.
