Hi! Curious if anyone knows what the largest tire is that can fit under a 67-69 A body barracuda with factory wheel wells. I have 15x8 weld prostars with 255/60/15 MT Radials. They fit good with plenty of room, but the car just looks like a fat dog with skinny legs from the rear. I was wondering if you could fit something like a 28x12.5-15 ET Street, or 295/55/15 Radial under these cars? Thanks for any help.

I running 295s under my '69 Barracuda but I got it jacked up!!

Treblig also has the spring relocation kit under there , I just put the Nitto NT555R in 275/60/15 on 15x8s with a 4.5 inch backspace under mine without the relocation kit but I needed to add spacers because the tire was only a 1/4 inch off the spring without them .

You are correct cannucky, 3/4" spring relocation!! Are you sure you need the spacers...although the part of the tire that touches the road does shift and move around some, the part of the tire that runs right past the spring really shouldn't move more than 1/16" or so, if that. There's no force acting upon that portion of the tire??? Maybe if your tire was underinflated and you did some serious hard donuts, then maybe?? Correct me if I'm wrong.
PS - I'm seriously looking at a set of 15 X 12 rims and some Mickey Thompson 15 X 29 X 12 sportsman radials to get rid of these wimpy 295s. They'll probably stick out beyond the upper fender lip by 1".

yeah everyone I spoke to said the springs sway a little and things change geometry under there so the minimum is supposed to be 3/4 , I added 5/16 spacers to give me about 9/16-5/8 . I wish I could weld so I could do the relocation kit as well , then I would go with the Mickey Thompson 28x12x15 . They are only 1 inch wider section width than the Nitto's I have now so thats a 1/2 inch on the spring side and they would still be inside the wheel lips as well .

No welding required cannucky. The rear shackles just get replaced by the offset ones and the front spring perch bolts in where the old one normally goes (but it's offset). The only thing that's a little hassle is that you have to cut/drill a hole on the outside of the frame rail so that the new spring perch can sit flat/flush against the rail. The factory front perch doesn't fit against the rail and the offset perch needs a hole/space in the rail for the bolt head to be. But the offset perches bolt into the original bolt holes (front and rear).

1969 Barracuda
Rear 15x8 4 1/2" backspacing with 275/60R15

I've been messing with spacers on the rear. I think I have a 3/16" on the passenger side and 1/8" on driver side. This gives me close to 1/2" between tire and leaf spring. The tire also clears the wheelwell lip. If you were to trim/roll this up this it would gain you a little bit. Can't see to much more that 275/60 tire fitting without modifications.

I ran 275/60-15 for years on a '67 fastback. Only had to slightly roll the passenger side fender lip on the inside.
