I have never seen this but I actually blew up my Holley carb. What happened is I was changing the power valve in my front metering block and I must have squirted a decent amount of fuel down into my intake while getting the arm for the accelerator pump off and then back on or something because when I started it it back fired like a sumnuva biztch and then started climbing in rpm like crazy. I immediately shut it off and was curious cause the throttle was closed as to what happened. Well turns out the backfire actually blew the heads off the screw that hold the butterfly for the passenger side secondaries. Thankfully both screw tops are accounted for but I have to pull the while thing off and tear it apart to fix it. Anyone else ever seen this?

wow, never seen that but man oh man, it's a good thing both screw heads are accounted for! That could have been really bad!

I did see a Corvette in a shop they were working on that dumped so much fuel in the engine that it bypassed the rings and loaded the crank case up. When they went to start it it blew so hard it blasted the aluminum valve covers off and left the four pieces where they bolt up to the head! Yup that got everyones atention!

Oh hello yeah I was happy both screw heads are accounted for. It could have been an entire engine rebuild otherwise. My dad had a friend build a six pack motor and for whatever reason the center carb poured fuel like a faucet and before they relized it fired and blew the oil pan off blew the valley pan into the underside of the intake and cracked the cam in half. He wrote to then direct connection and explained what happened and since the carb was faulty they rebuilt his whole motor for free

Looks fixable. Quite a few years ago I was installing a new engine in my conversion van. You know one of those vans where you can work on the engine while sitting in the drivers seat. Anyway I realized I had the distributor 180 degrees out after trying to start it for 20 minutes and dumping who knows how much gas down the intake. Once I spun the distributor around and fired it up it was like someone threw a grenade in there with me. Busted out two van windows and I couldn't hear for a few hours. LOL it was crazy.

Wow I have never heard of that either. Pretty intense. Also let me know what that. Money order comes. It should be there tomorrow or Friday at the latest.
