4.5 inch is big bolt pattern, 4 inch is small bolt pattern

you sure can use alot better selection of rims with 5x41/2 than i could with a 4 inch bolt circle i had to do some axle changing on my 8 3/4 just to get 4 1/2

Hook a tape measure on the outside of one stud and measure to the center of the stud diagonally opposite. As stated - 4" is SBP and 4.5" is BBP.

I had small bolt pattern front end and big bolt pattern rear due to my rear end swap that I did. So I found a set of wheel converters from small bolt pattern to big bolt pattern. they fit great.
found mine on craigslist for 60 bucks for a set of 4 and they were brand new.

then sold one set(2 of them) for 40 bucks at a swap meet. so i spent 20 bucks on my converters for the front and now I can use big bolt pattern all the way around..
