I dig your 69-72 parts hauler, I had a few of those in the past.
Thanks I've had it almost as long as the car. Its a 69 with a 383 (getting a 498 BBC) with a D1SC and a TKX in it (I call it the Wrong Bed C10)

Back to the car—progress may have been light, but it was still progress. I spent some time working on the fuel system, getting things lined up to figure out the mounting brackets that will be integral to the chassis. There’s more to this setup than meets the eye, especially with the modifications to the pumps that originally started as Holley Blacks. I’m also waiting on the new filter elements from System One.

The new 40” tubs arrived, now just waiting on the inner section to show up. In the meantime, I decided to make a delete plate for the shock holes after changing my mind on that setup. Using plates with rivets ended up saving about ¾ of a pound—not a huge number, but every bit counts.

Even though I’m striving for perfection, the small imperfections feel right. Back in the day, these Pro Stock cars were constantly evolving, with changes happening weekly. So, rather than stressing over every little thing, I’m embracing it as part of the process.

Tonight was a night of tying up loose ends in the shop, made even chillier by the cold. I measured out a few more bars and used a little trick with a string snap line to mark the center for notching. Wrapped up the cover panels, started working on the fuel pump mounts, and now I need to track down the mounting hardware for the doors so I can get them hung.

I have enjoyed the build as it comes together.
You have a lot of drive, my friend.
And the work is great, as well as the progress.
My hat is off to you!

Last night, I made some solid progress in the shop. I got the filter and pump mounts done, though I still need to grab some weld-in slugs from the hardware store tomorrow for the filter mounts. I'm happy with the mockup so far. I also added the last bar to the rear roll cage section in the trunk—now, the only thing left on the cage is the X bar, but that’ll be the final piece to go in.

I tossed all the door mounting hardware into acetone to strip off the paint before running them through the lathe. On top of that, I need to track down a titanium bolt to start with or find someone who can machine the door strikers out of titanium for a little side project I’m borrowing from the Moparts forum.

With the weather looking lousy this weekend, it’ll be a good chance to lock myself in the shop and knock out the rest of the to-do list.

Last night was a short one! While Sarah headed to the barn for a quick ride before the next snowstorm, I took the opportunity to clear out some unnecessary stuff from the mid-car area. Here are the lightened hinge bolts—I plan to cut them flush with the hinge as well. The filter bracket is now done and going into storage and the frame slugs are welded in. Also, Jegs came through with a bunch more needed tabs!

Had an early morning breakfast with Sarah, then came home and parked the C10 outside to get started on the car. Got the doors hung and machined some more door bolts. I also went ahead and filled all the holes I had made in the floor from drilling out spot welds. Since I was on a productive streak, I decided to fit the fiberglass dash to the car and rough it in—still have a bunch of modifications to make it resemble an old A&A piece. To wrap up the day outside, I finally got around to making a spark plug tool for the Hemi—something I’d been thinking about for a while and finally finished. Didn't expect this much to fall.

Today escalated quickly.... What started as a simple adjustment to how the car was mounted on the stand turned into a full-blown teardown. I ended up drilling out all the spot welds and pulling the quarter panel off, cutting out all the underlying structure to prep for the tub. Along the way, I found a few surprises—some panels were too far gone or damaged, but that’s exactly why we're taking it this far apart. On the bright side, I saved the important sections of the old quarter, especially the arch, since the plan is to stretch the quarter panels to a 36 1/2-inch opening with a 40-inch tub.

So are you going to narrow (thin) the frame rails?
That's looking great and getting better..

That's going to be fun. Challenging but fun
Yes, my thought on how to narrow, it would be to use the existing outer rail and slide it inside of the existing and that way, I will put spot weld holes along the bottom tying the two stacked rails together plus weld the whole seam to maintain structural integrity

That's a great idea. From my experience welding on those rails, they are pretty thin and it was fairly easy to burn through and make more work.
What you're planning will be a lot better.

With all that was done, it was time to test-fit the super tricks on the new rear end and see if everything measured up—thankfully, my math looks to be right. My hot rod buddies kept asking, and they finally got what they wanted. So I spent some time out there tonight drilling holes in all the new structure that’s available. I also figured out how I’m going to do the narrowed—or in this case, relocated—rear frame rails. Make new tubular rails and then box them in to look like factory. On top of that, I started working on the passenger-side trunk panel, just waiting on a few more pieces from AMD before diving into the quarter. Finally the dash bar showed up too

And the key is most of this will be hidden when done you’ll never know underneath, which is the cool part
I like that a lot. I wish I had the forethought when I was putting my junk together.

That's very cool, this is the car you shared pictures of your cage with me, that was a big help.
It is. And it's finally almost on the road/track. Just gotta make sense of all this spaghetti and finish wiring this turd. I'll probably bug you when it comes time for the 470 build seeing's how I've never built a big block before.

Anytime.

Super excited to have some of the parts for my back up motor coming together as the big motor is almost finished. The second hemi is shaping up to be a 396 ci 16 plug hemi with another set of stg V heads and a Callies block. This motor will get all my dry sump parts also, plus it will be a flat plane crank build. The intake will be the old modified mag tunnel ram with the 1050 oe boss 429 carbs on it.
